CHALLENGES
Traditional last mile logistics is a mostly unorganized sector constrained by availability, reliability and affordability of transport culminating in wasted, under-stocked shelves, and underserved communities. At the same time, local transporters do not operate on a level playing field, as many suffer information asymmetry or favouritism. These problems pose obstacles to access essential products at affordable costs, thereby reducing options for last-mile consumers.
SOLUTION
Logistimo’s logistics & transportation management platform deployed in the region aggregates local demand and orchestrates distribution to delivery destinations by crowdsourcing rural transporters. Data collected through sales and fulfilment channels is used for orchestrating task sequencing, routing, scheduling and optimization.
VALUE-ADD
Tusker has successfully developed a marketplace facilitating low-cost delivery of products to low resource environments where expensive, adhoc, full truck load delivery has been the norm. Deliveries are largely fulfilled same-day as aggregation has made it viable to reach previously under-served regions. The ability to restock more easily has changed stocking behaviors - not waiting for products to stock out and broadening the range of stocks that can be carried.
