CHALLENGES
Healthcare programs in Malawi have traditionally relied on paper-based registry systems for data collection. By the time these registers are accessible to decision makers, information can be already out-of-date and less actionable. Last-mile demand is thereby rendered hard to access due to an opaque and inefficient supply chain
SOLUTION
Logistimo’s technology platform has been deployed across Malawi in English and Chichewa languages, as eHIN. eHIN ensures real-time monitoring of medicines at all levels of the supply chain, from national warehouses to the last-mile. It provides a unified system for stock management, order requisitioning and reporting to equip the Ministry of Health for optimal planning, procurement and distribution of health services needed for a fast-growing birth cohort. All health programmes in Malawi, including routine immunisation, TB, Malaria, HIV, Reproductive Health and Child Nutrition, are managed under eHIN
VALUE ADDED
Logistimo enables access to real-time healthcare data down to the last-mile of the supply chain. Availability of granular data and effective analytics from the eHIN platform is facilitating better supervision and timely action to achieve Malawi’s healthcare goals. Logistimo provides data-driven decision support to reduce wastage, improve logistical certainty and maximize availability of vaccines, medicines and other health commodities, aimed at ensuring universal health coverage for all citizens of Malawi. Benefitting greatly from the network-wide transparency, Malawi's Ministry of Health has been able to seamlessly introduce multiple COVID-19 vaccines in to the existing supply chain and distribute them at high service levels.
