CHALLENGES
Inventory management of healthcare commodities was ad-hoc and non-standardized. Paper-based forms and registers were mostly used due to which there was very little visibility into last-mile stock information. There was also no provision to capture and assess demand trends and use them for decision making.
THE SOLUTION
Logistimo SCM is enabling health workers in 27 facilities across the deployed region in Somaliland to maintain real time stock information of ~300 health commodities (vaccines, essential drugs, lab equipment & nutritional supply). Real-time data flows up the supply chain, gets aggregated and visualized across multiple dimensions. This increases visibility into the supply-chain and provides decision makers the necessary tools for data-driven decision making.
VALUE ADDED
The technology intervention has been making the supply chain more dynamic and transparent. With users of Logistimo having gotten more comfortable with technology, there is now better alignment between commodity demand and supply. Wastage has also begun to reduce and healthcare availability has begun to improve to service delivery points.
